PETE STINSON – DOUBLE CHAMPIONSHIP WIN WITH THE QUANTUM

Hey everyone,

Just on the boat on the way back to work from a great weekend home to Ireland where this weekend, I’ve completed the Double and won the IPKSA kite buggy race Series 2013/14, this is just one week after Winning the SPKA winter race series in Scotland.

This Means Ozone Quantum’s (and the odd octane) have won 2 race series with over 22 races in each race series.

Ireland
For the last event of the year we were in Bettystown, Ireland and the forecast was for off shore winds all weekend, on the Saturday I took the 6.3m Quantum and put 20m lines on to get the kite up over the large sand dunes that the wind was blowing over, this was a great choice as I won the first 2 races taking the pressure of my lead in the championship, I was second in the last after getting caught in a tangle at the start line, but once i got started the Quantum soon caught the pack an started to make its way past the fleet, however the race came to an end to soon for me to caught the leader who have make a great start.

On the Sunday we had light winds just around the 8mph straight off shore, I took the 13.4m Quantum, again this was the kite of the day it stormed to the front and stayed there, and after 3 hard fought race, all won by the Quantum, I was IR1.

It’s been a great season in Ireland with 22 races in the series, i finished with 6 points and the second place ended up with 30, the domination of the Ozone Quantum was clear to see.

Scotland
I have been able to do both race series due to my work and the travelling I have to do, so it’s been great to race with the Scottish again this year! Our last event at St Andrews was an epic weekend with a cross off wind blowing 20mph plus both days. For this a had the 5m and the 4m Quantum and they were great for the technical courses that was set out, the stability and pull in quite a gusty cross off wind was excellent, and the outstanding performance of the kite was clear to see winning the weekend with 4 wins, 2nd and 3rd. With the wind varying at times the 4m was under powered but I was able to be worked to get the performance and speed need to stay ahead! The performances of the kite allowed me extend my lead to win the title in Scotland.

It’s been a great season for me and to win the both series has been hard work, with 2 events a month, hundreds of miles apart. However, the fun have had along the way has been in abundance. The Quantum has given me the edge on the rest of the competitors and would say to anyone who hasn’t tried it yet, What are you waiting for!!!?

Next up I have the Celtic Challenge Ireland V’s Scotland, where I will race for the Irish, then we have NoBarrier 14 in Wales, where you can try the Quantum, the new Chrono and many other Ozone kites, looking forward to this and see you all there!!
